Enlisted after college and missed my drawstring bags deeply, which were very popular when I was a student. On top of that, I found myself needing one significantly more compared to college.
Why do you need one of these bags, you might ask?
Picture yourself out in the field, at the motorpool, or working in your office. You have your assault pack or rucksack, filled to the brim with heavy stuff.
Then, you get tasked with going somewhere, to do something. Or, you just want to go smoke a cig, or run over to the shoppette. Do you take all of your gear, even though your buddy is happy to sit tight and watch it for you? Are you going to carry your shoppette goodies in the bag they give you, bragging that you snuck out for more energy drinks? No way!
But wait- you need your water source with you, per 1SG. You also can't leave the zyns behind, or your energy drink. Gotta have your notepad as well, or maybe a binder full of DA 5988's? Or, you might not like leaving your aid pouch behind.
This drawstring bag takes up the same space as an apple. Whip it out from your rucksack, fill it full of what you need, and get going. I never left without it, and it saved my a million times.
But wait- if SGM sees me with this, he will hate it! You might be stopped- I absolutely was, many times, because of my non-standard gear or bags. When I was stopped while wearing this bag, I would very briefly explain the bag was made by a retired EOD SNCO who creates specialized products for SMs.
I was never ordered to take it off or stop using it- I believe because I was able to convey the quality, and was happy to allow for these SNCOs to inspect the bag themselves. Had it been some cheap knockoff, manufactured overseas, I'm not nearly as confident that I would have had the same success. Also- I always had my water source in it (you all know they love that).
Finally, the price is the same as when I purchased it years ago. Get it now while it's still under $100! It was worth the price back then; even more so now.
